The restaurant Papasote in Kaiserslautern spoiles parents as well as children with close to authentic Mexican dishes. By the way: This rustic restaurant is located in a building which was a freight yard a few years ago!

In addition, there is a cocktail bar next to the restaurant, where adults in the evening enjoy one of the various cocktails, while sitting in lounge chairs. Moreover, there is a terrace which is open during summer season.

While families wait for their food, children can request coloring books and pens. The little ones have their own spot in high chairs. A very rare service which I am used to in the States…

The food menu differs. Besides rolled corn flour tortillas you can find crispy dishes, nachos, tacos, buffalo wings or salads on the menu. The drink specials are just as extensive as the food. While parents enjoy a Corona (Mexican beer), children can taste a delicious dessert and a cool soft drink.

The staff is very nice, always smiling and quick in serving drinks.

For those of you in Germany, you know Mexican food here is different. This is as close as Ihave gotten to a little taste of home. I really get into those super yummy. Margaritas :- )

Easy to get to by train (is only a few steps away from Kaiserslautern West station).
Not open for lunch on weekdays, only dinner. Open all day Sunday.

Gaststätte “Hannenfass”:
Part beer hall, part sport bar, this wooden almost piratical-looking place is always popular for a brew, karaoke (on Thu), buffet and lunch deals, and some of the best Greek cuisine in town from neighbouring Delhi.

It is near several other pubs in the middle of K-Town and you will always meet lots of English speaking people, good drinks (you should try some 'cola-beer' – tastes different). It's great

The kitchen is closed between 14:00 & 17:00 and after 23:00 but the party continues well into the night here, especially when 1. FCK is playing

Dress Code: This is a hangout for many Americans, as well as Germans, mostly in their 20's.
You best wear jeans, shorts, after all it's just a pub.

This pub is most commonly known as the "Meter Bar" due to them serving 16 beers lined up on a meter long board.

My first impression:
Nicely decorated with artificial plants, paintings and murals with Latin American flair and Latin American music.
Unfortunately (except for this little secluded side-room) no comfortable couches, but regular tables, chairs and benches.
Many young people and always a nice welcome-greeting including place assignment by the waiters / staff.
A small disco on the second floor with black / techno music on weekends.
The music can also be heard through speakers in the bar. The dance club above is quite expensive, though

Loud music and lots of noise, but affordable and delicious cocktails as well as great tasting food – rounds my review to favourable 4 stars

What a beautiful location! I had had a fabulous day with my friends. We spent approximately four hours walking around and saw, maybe, half of the attractions.
We will definitely be going back!
I was particularly impressed by the peaceful feeling, which comes automatically strolling along.
There are restaurants (and a hand full of ice cream stands in the summer) if you want to eat but they don't distract from the botanical garden atmosphere.

Even during the colder season, this zoo is an exciting place to visit – various indoor activities available, interesting presentation of flora & fauna.

Restaurant prices are high, parking spaces available at the “Wilhelmina Parkhaus”

If you like having fun with friends, this is the place to be!
Every day changing programs attract bowlers; our favorite day is usually thursday - the "After Work Party" day.
(2 hours bowling, 4 people, entry pP 10,- €, which includes a free cocktail per person and a bowl of nachos per lane)

You can rent the (ugly) bowlingshoes for 2,- €/pair, there is a sportsbar on the 2nd floor with 3 pool billiard tables and a big screen shwoing sport events like German soccer or the Formula 1 race.

(Smokers have a separate room behind a glass partition)

„Thomas Philips“ is a chain, well-known for buying stocklots of all sorts of items, sometimes even brands.
Since it is near the US military base, you often see US citizens “scurrying” around, always on the lookout for bargains.

The store range goes from furniture over garden items, groceries to art supply, decorative items, stationary, even wine.

Whenever I come here, I’m sure to buy something…

(Especially around Christmas season you’ll find me doing a “shop-till-you-drop” journey through the aisles – there is so much decoration to find; I just can’t get enough…)

BK, or Burger King – a Fast Food chain with worldwide reputation. What’s to write about this single location?
Well, first off, the burgers are MUCH bigger than burgers at McD (well, but EVERY Burger King burger is bigger than McD burger)
Second:
I can pay in USD, if I choose to do so (simply because of the nearby US Military Base)
Third:
free re-fill on sodas; this is a service that I am used to in the States, but not in Germany, so big PLUS on this point
Fourth:
The place is really clean and burgers always taste fresh and are always still hot

(here you go: my four reasons for a 4-star-result)

At the end of the “Fußgängerzone” - pedestrian area you will find this store, it is easily accessible on foot (cars are not allowed in the “Fußgängerzone”).
Every Gamer’s heart will open up once you enter this place: All kinds of PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii games and more. Sometimes you can even pre-order games!
At GameStop, not only new games are available – you can also purchase used games. Or sell your old games (you have the choice between receiving cash or a voucher)

Nice big Postal Office close to the main train station. Bring time to stand in line since there is always more customers than staff.
I like the German Postal system (although fees for mailing letters seems to be much higher than in the States)
Everything appears to be so ORGANIZED and the German postal service is quick – usually, a letter which I put in the mail on Mondays, arrives the next day at its destination in Germany (OK; Airmail takes up to 5 weekdays…)
